Annual Fine Art Photography Competition Call for Art

ArtSpace Herndon invites photographers from Virginia, DC, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to enter in its Annual Fine Art Photography Competition. The competition is open to fine art photographers aged 18 or older working in any medium (digital or analog, color or monochrome), and using any printing technique. Fine Art Photography of any subject is welcome; there is no required theme for entries. The deadline for entries is Friday, January 4, 2019.

Finalists for the Competition will make up the 2019 Fine Art Photography Exhibition at ArtSpace Herndon, February 5 through March 2, 2019.  Winners of the competition will be announced during the awards reception on Saturday, February 9, 2019, 7 to 9pm.

This call is currently closed until next year, but feel free to look at this years entry requirements in preparation for next year.

The 11th Annual Expressions Portrait Competition
and Exhibit Call for Art

Artists 18 years or above, who reside in Virginia, including West Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Preference will be given to works adhering to the traditional definition of portraiture: “a painting, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person.” (Wikipedia, March 2015)

Herndon Town Calendar Competition 2021

The attached photo, “Sugarland Run Stone Arch (circa 1860)” by photographer Mike Madigan, was selected as the “People’s Choice” winner by attendees who voted at the Herndon Town Calendar Photo Competition exhibition at ArtSpace Herndon these past few weeks. This photo, along with other iconic Herndon photos submitted by professional and amateur photographers, will be featured in the 2020 Herndon Town Calendar, distributed to all residences and businesses in December. The competition is produced by Arts Herndon and the Town of Herndon; deadline for the 2021 competition is in June 2020.


10th Annual Herndon Town Calendar Photo Competition

Professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit entries to the Herndon Town Calendar Photo Competition; the deadline for submissions is June 12, 2020 at 5 p.m. Subjects for all entries must be located within the corporate limits of the Town of Herndon, and special consideration will be given to entries depicting people, representative of Herndon’s rich diversity and many cultures, participating in seasonal or community events.




Solo and Group Exhibits Proposals for 2020

Proposals for month-long exhibits of fine art are requested from artists 18 years or older, typically with a large body of work and recognized with various awards both locally and nationally. Artists who are actively working as visual artists are encouraged to apply for upcoming exhibits.

Fine art paintings, mixed media, photography, sculpture, drawings, printing, graphic design, new media, installation art, and fiber arts can be displayed in exhibits.
